Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray – the return of the legendary name

Yesterday, one hour after midnight our time, the most anticipated new product of the Detroit auto show was presented , which was mainly waited for by Americans, but also all over the world. Yes, you guessed it – the new, seventh generation Chevrolet Corvette has been revealed in all its glory.

After the arrival of the red and gray 'Vette , senior representatives of the General Motors concern came and immediately announced that the seventh generation would bear the name Stingray . It will thus become the third in a row to use the aforementioned supplement. Overall, the Corvette underwent an evolutionary design, and the designers were also inspired by the Stingray concept , which played in one part of the Transformers trilogy.

The long front end is made of carbon fiber and includes a large opening bumper or HID headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights. On the contrary, at the rear we will find a decent spoiler, four exhaust tips located in the middle and rear lamps inspired by the Camaro model. With this step , Chevrolet buried the tradition of round taillights. Also new to the C7 are the side windows at the C-pillars, which were last seen on the first generation. The seventh generation design will also offer a removable Double Bubble roof panel. The car has an aluminum frame, with which it achieves an optimal weight of 50/50 . There are also chassis panels made of carbon nanocomposites or composite mudguards, doors and rear parts of the car.

The interior is better and of course with higher quality materials – leather upholstery, aluminum and carbon trim and more. The center panel is turned towards the driver, and for many of us the lines of the dashboard may remind the interior of an Audi R8 . The highlight of the interior equipment is the information system including navigation with an 8-inch touch screen. Buyers can also pay extra for better seats that have a magnesium frame for better comfort and lateral support.

The engine compartment houses a newly developed 6.2-liter small-block LT1 series eight-cylinder with direct injection, Active Fuel Management, variable valve timing, a compression ratio of 11.5:1 and a more advanced combustion system. Power is set to 450 hp and torque to 610 Nm, which therefore becomes the most powerful, and with a consumption of 9.1 l/100 km on the highway, also the most economical engine in the history of the model. Thanks to higher power and lower weight, the new Corvette will accelerate to 100 km/h in under four seconds . Initially, the seventh generation will be offered with a six-speed automatic , then a seven-speed Tremec manual with Active Rev Matching shift indicator will also be available. The engine will offer a total of five driving modes – Weather, ECO, Tour, Sport and Track.

The Z51 Performance Package has also been available since the premiere, which includes a differential with electronically limited slip, a lubrication system with a dry sump, integral cooling of the brakes, differential and transmission or a special aero package (improves the stability of the car at high speeds). Of course, a more powerful version will be presented in a few years, for now we have to be satisfied with the new generation Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray . Sales of the new American model will begin this fall .
