The highlight of the A7 Sportback model range – the sporty RS7

The anticipated premiere of the sports "coupe" RS7 Sportback was originally planned for sometime in the middle of the year. But Audi surprised and the RS7 Sportback can already be seen these days in Detroit .

Visually, you won't mistake it on the stand! Compared to the standard A7 Sportback , which is already so different from the others, the RS7 will offer new bumpers, side skirts, a radiator grille and, above all, 20- or 21-inch wheels . An optical carbon package is also available for an additional fee (the white car has it in the photos). In the interior, you will immediately be "embraced" by the sports seats and you will take hold of the sports steering wheel, behind which there are modified alarm clocks. The entire center panel is then supplemented with carbon decor and if you look at your feet when you get in, you will probably notice the new strips with the car logo.

An important part of such a sports model is certainly the engine. Audi cared about that, and that's why we can hear the 4.0 twin-turbocharged eight-cylinder engine under the hood with a power of 560 hp and a maximum torque of 700 Nm, which is available from 1750 to 5500 revolutions per minute.

The transmission of power on the road is handled by an 8-speed Tiptronic transmission in cooperation with Quattro permanent all-wheel drive. Even these conveniences enable acceleration to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and a maximum speed of up to 250 km/h (with the Dynamic or Dynamic Plus package, the limiter is unlocked to 280 km/h or 305 km/h).

The economy and ecology of operation were also thought of. The RS7 Sportback thus offers the COD (cylinder on demand) function, which allows up to half of the cylinders to be switched off at lower speeds, thereby reducing consumption and emissions. Thanks to this function, the standardized average consumption fell to 9.8 l/100 km.

The chassis was not left out of interest either. That's why you already get air suspension as standard, which lowers the vehicle by up to 20 mm and which offers adaptive shock absorbers. Even more advanced shock absorbers with three adjustment options and the DRC (dynamic ride control) system can be purchased for an additional fee.

Ventilated discs with a diameter of 390 mm take care of stopping, but ceramic brakes with a diameter of 420 mm can be purchased for an additional fee, which complement the anthracite gray brake calipers.
