Toyota TS030 HYBRID crashed heavily during testing

The sad news comes from the racing division of Toyota . The TS030 Le Mans hybrid circuit special crashed heavily at the Circuit Paul Richard on 4 April. The monocoque chassis of the single prototype was so badly damaged that it could not be repaired or made completely new by the start of the second race of the WEC championship. It is therefore clear that he will not start the six-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps on May 5.

Toyota hasn't released a single shot or photo from the accident to the public, so we have to make do with January's photos from the official presentation. Due to the very unfortunate and unpredictable situation, Toyota hopes to be able to start the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.

All that remains is to add some information about the car itself. The Toyota TS030 is powered by a mid-mounted 3.4 liter V8 mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox. The petrol unit is assisted by an electric motor with a 140 kWh battery, which helps the car especially when exiting corners. However, Toyota keeps the overall performance of the hybrid system to itself. An interesting fact is that the TS030 can also drive purely on electricity. However, he doesn't get many opportunities to do so.
