Toyota GT86 CS-R3 – New images

The Toyota GT86 CS-R3 rally special has been on the scene for some time, but we haven't seen many sharp deployments yet. But this year, Toyota Motorsport wants to enter the carousel of the World Championship with a factory team and with this particular car. At Toyota, they hope to mainly test the functioning and coordination of the team before returning to the top category with the special Yaris WRC , which is already being tested diligently. However, the GT86 type is not only intended for the car manufacturer, but can also be purchased by private individuals, both in asphalt and gravel versions. Under the hood of the special, there is still a two-liter naturally aspirated two-liter boxer , which drives only the rear wheels. The gearbox is still six-speed , but sequential. Only the performance rose slightly to 238 hp thanks to new cams and a different control unit. The designers did not miss the brakes either, four-piston in the front, two in the back. And of course, the racing special does not lack a protective frame. Now it remains to be seen how Toyota will cope with the front-wheel-drive competition in the form of the Fiat 500 Abarth, Citroën DS3 and Renault Clio.
