1M Coupé successor officially confirmed

In the course of 2010, the Munich brand BMW presented a new model called the 1M Coupé , which is considered the spiritual successor of the legendary M3 (E30) . Unfortunately, only a limited production was planned, so the production of this fun eMk was discontinued last year. But do not despair, there is good news from Munich !

The CEO of Division M himself, Dr. Friedrich Nitschke , recently confirmed that BMW is planning a direct successor to the 1M Coupé . The first speculations about a new sharp model appeared in July 2012, but finally it is officially confirmed . Unfortunately, the CEO did not provide any more precise information, but the new small eMko will apparently be built on the basis of the M135i .

Dr. Friedrich Nitschke also revealed: "The M135i is a very successful model, but it is not a true performance M ". The hatchback M135i has a 3.0 -liter six-cylinder under the hood with a power of 320 horsepower and a torque of 450 Nm. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes place in 4.9 seconds and reaches an electronically limited maximum speed of 250 km/h.

The successor to the successful BMW 1M Coupé will probably bear the designation M2 and will be presented in January 2014 at the Detroit Auto Show.
