Skoda Rapid is not necessarily just a liftback like in Europe. India has been trying to convince us of this for quite some time (it's true, the Rapid is just a rebranded Volkswagen there) and recently also China , for which Skoda paid off to produce an almost new car.
In terms of appearance, however, you practically cannot tell that Rapid made in China is any different from Rapid made in the Czech Republic . The front part is completely identical, and you only register the changes in the back part. There, the flowing body of the liftback type changed to a body of the sedan type . The Rapid thus received new lights and, in fact, a completely new rendering of the rear part.
This was also reflected in the dimensions of the vehicle . The Chinese Rapid measures 4501 mm in length (European 4483 mm), 1706 mm in width (same as the European model) and 1469 mm in height (European version 1461 mm). The legroom for rear passengers should be roughly the same according to the wheelbase of 2603 mm (European Rapid 2602 mm).
Only a pair of engines will appear under the hood in China. Both are petrol engines, with the weaker 1.4 having 90 hp and the stronger 1.6 having 110 hp. There will be a choice of a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. A final point of interest is that the base Chinese Rapid is heavier than the European Rapid (1160kg vs. 1135kg).
However much you may not care about changing the body and dimensions, you cannot completely ignore the price . We already outlined this for you last year , and with this presentation we can only confirm it. The basic model costs 80,000 yuan ( about 248,000 CZK ). And that is a small difference compared to the Czech 269,900 CZK .
