SKODA wants to confirm this year's good performances so far in the fifth event of the IRC 2012 championship in Sicily. In addition to Jan Kopecky , Andreas Mikkelsen will also be at the start.
For the crew of the SKODA Motorsport factory team consisting of Jan Kopecký/Pavel Dresler, this is the first start at this competition. The reigning champions Andreas Mikkelsen/Ola Floene from the SKODA UK Motorsport team, also starting with the factory Fabia Super 2000 , will also fight for points for the SKODA brand.
The fifth rally of this year's IRC in Sicily – also known as the Targa Florio – replaced the originally planned competition in Hungary. The Sicilian rally thus appeared in the IRC calendar for the first time.
Jan Kopecký says before the Sicilian rally: "This is a new race on the IRC calendar and it is clear that the Italian predators will be very fast here. This rally will be a demanding test for the crew and the entire team. Naturally, we want to finish as far ahead as possible, so we can't afford any mistakes. Pavel and I are already looking forward to our Sicilian premiere."
Rally Sicily is also part of the Italian championship. The competition is characterized by an unusual format of special stages – only five different RZs are raced, which are repeated. In total, the rally consists of 11 tests and 170 kilometers.
