Six million cars with quattro drive

The Audi brand is celebrating . The six-millionth quattro-powered Audi rolled off the assembly line at the Ingolstadt plant , just one and a half years after the five-millionth quattro was produced. The anniversary car Audi SQ5 3.0 TDI quattro in Monsoon gray metallic shade is traveling to the USA.

"Dynamics and sporty characteristics, the highest technical precision and safety – these are the characteristic features of quattro technology from the Audi brand. More than 30 years ago it was a pioneering achievement, today it is synonymous with technical progress," says Dr. Hubert Waltl , member of the board of Audi AG, responsible for production. In February 2013, Audi celebrated its five millionth model with permanent all-wheel drive . Just one and a half years later, the Ingolstadt carmaker surpassed the six million mark.

"The know-how of our colleagues in the field of all-wheel drive is remarkable, it shows our 'Technology Ahead' and contributes decisively to the image of the brand," says Peter Mosch , Chairman of the Audi Central Works Council. "Achieving this milestone in such a short time would not have been possible without our skilled and flexible teams."

The Audi brand produced a total of 710,095 cars with quattro drive in 2013 . Around 2,000 all-wheel drive Audi vehicles roll off the assembly lines of the two German Audi plants in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm every day. Permanent all-wheel drive convinces customers all over the world of its advantages. In 2013, 44 percent of all Audi customers opted for the quattro model. No other premium manufacturer can boast such a high proportion of all-wheel drive cars on sale. The best-selling model was the Audi Q5 , followed by the Audi A4 model range. All-wheel drive Audi models are particularly sought after in the US , Canada, Russia and the Middle East. Audi models with quattro drive are also strongly represented in Germany. In the first half of the year, 61,150 Audi vehicles with quattro drive were produced for the German market.
