Renault Clio RS Cup – racing model for the new season!

The French car manufacturer Renault is not idle, and so less than three weeks after the premiere of the sporty Clio RS , it also got away with its circuit version Cup. Fans will see him in action for the first time in early 2014 .

And what will he offer? Under the hood, there will be a modified turbocharged 1.6 gasoline engine with a power of 220 hp and a torque of 270 Nm. Power is transferred to the road by a 6-speed sequential gearbox with an AP Racing clutch. The front wheels are then assisted by a limited-slip differential. The weight was also reduced, but Renault does not provide specific numbers.

Visually, the Cup differs from the classic RS by the 17-inch Speedline Corse wheels, behind which are hidden the racing brakes from AP Racing, the air intake on the roof and, above all, the large rear wing, which is able to generate up to 40 kg of downforce at a speed of 201 km/h. Of course, there is a protective cage, sports seats and a very polished center panel inside the car.

In total, the car has been tested for over 3,500 km on various circuits throughout France . The model will go on sale in August 2013 at a price starting at 37,500 euros . But you won't get on normal roads with this model. It is homologated mainly for the Clio Cup branded championship.
