Porsche 911 RSR in a new generation for 2013

A few days ago, the German manufacturer of sports cars Porsche presented to the world a completely new generation of the racing model 911 RSR . It will be used in this year's WEC (World Endurance Championship) endurance races.

The new Porsche 911 RSR has the task of replacing the somewhat outdated Porsche 911 GT3 RSR (997). The completely new generation of the car is characterized by a huge number of redesigned body parts, which is evident at first glance. The 2013 Porsche 911 RSR thus received even greater weight savings, which is mainly due to the carbon fenders, doors, engine hood and front cover. The instrument panel together with the central tunnel did not escape the redesign.

Under the hood of the racing special, we find a 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine that was carried over from the previous generation. It has a decent output of 460 horsepower. Along with it, the 911 RSR will use a modified new six-speed sequential gearbox with paddles under the steering wheel. A completely new lithium-ion battery, replacing the classic accumulator, will also ensure greater endurance.

6 racing professionals will sit behind the wheel of the competition specials with the numbers 91 and 92, including Jörg Bergmeister, Timo Bernhard and the Frenchman Romain Dumas. The biggest attraction of the season will be the endurance race on the famous La Sarthe circuit, which is run regularly every year and gives all the cars and their drivers a hard time.

This year's 24hours Le Mans race at the LaSarthe circuit will take place on June 22nd and 23rd and will certainly be something to look forward to.
