Recently, Opel has been churning out new gasoline and diesel units like on a conveyor belt. So far, the latest addition is the two-liter CDTI diesel , which can be found under the hoods of the Insignia and Zafira Tourer models.
Compared to the previous version of the same engine, the novelty is 5% more powerful and has 14% better torque. Instead of 163 hp and 380 Nm, it now produces 170 hp at 3750 rpm and 400 Nm between 1750 and 2500 rpm . The new engine also meets the Euro 6 emission standard thanks to the selective catalytic reduction system, which reduces the content of NOx emissions by injecting AdBlue, and despite the increase in power, it is more economical thanks to the new architecture and emits less CO2 emissions into the air.
The basic structural element of the engine is a new combustion chamber , modified intake ducts and a new fuel injection system with a pressure of up to 2000 bar and 10 injections per cylinder during one cycle. The variable geometry of the turbo blades was also redesigned, which received an electric regulator, which speeds up filling by up to 20%. The turbocharger itself is water-cooled to maintain longer life and has an oil filter mounted in the oil inlet. The exhaust gas recirculation module is built around a stainless steel radiator, improving cooling efficiency by up to 90%. The reduction of noise and vibrations , which penetrate from the engine into the cabin either when driving or when standing at a traffic light, should also be significant.
