Tuning, tuning, tuning… I have to admit that the knife in my pocket opens from time to time when a tuned Peugeot 306 type car with a ditched front bumper drives past me in the city, very remotely resembling the basic elements of the game Need For Speed. Of course, the same is repeated at the back, but with the difference of the unnaturally protruding chimney pipes, "tastefully" stretched through an asymmetric opening in the expanded metal. But you know it.
Fortunately, in addition to the well-executed modifications of luxury cars, a package is also released from time to time for a model that we meet on the road practically every day and that many enthusiasts would quite like to have in their garage. Proof of this is this Opel Astra, embellished by the German company Senner Tuning.
The basis of the modification is a five-door hatchback, under the hood of which hides a turbocharged four-cylinder with a volume of 1.4 liters and an original output of 103 kW. However, this was not enough for the engineers at Senner Tuning, and therefore there was an increase to the final 121 kW, while the torque also increased by 50 Nm to a total of 250 Nm.
It is therefore clear that the performance of the Astra will not be abundant, and we will not even see it in a cloud of smoke at the intersections when the light turns green. In Germany, they therefore focused on a non-violent modification of the appearance, including a front bumper lollipop, an original Steinmetz radiator grille, side sill extensions and a rear diffuser, including two exhaust tips. Of course, there is also a new rear muffler, adding a sporty sound to the sporty exterior.
My colleague Petr informed about the fact that "wheels make a car" in today's test. This particular Astra rides on 19" Alutec rims. However, I personally would prefer a simpler design and an inch smaller size. So how do you like it?
However, it must be noted that every joke costs everything and although it is only an Astra, it charges the modifier a rather exorbitant price of €11,900. This particular piece will probably not have many fans in the Czech lands.
