A very interesting Wartburg has appeared on eBay

The sound of a two-stroke engine once accompanied the whole of East Germany , but today, fortunately, we hear it mostly at vintage events. Most of the once very popular Wartburg 353s were sold in Europe, but a few made their way to the US.

According to the Idaho owner of the 1977 353W-spec red sedan (the grille indicates mid-1980s production, however), there are less than 50 similar cars in the U.S., so he considers his car unique. This also corresponds to the price set on eBay thanks to the "buy it now" function at 5,500 dollars (approx. 112,000 crowns). That's quite a lot for a car with a 57-horsepower two-stroke liter three-cylinder.

On the other hand, the car is said to be in excellent condition and even according to the photos, it looks like it is very well preserved. The red body color is original, as is the interior, which according to the owner already shows minor signs of wear . And why is the car for sale? The owner needs money to complete the renovation of another East German car – the Trabant P50.

However, the already mentioned amount of $5,500 may not be final – if the car does not sell for it, the owner is willing to make a slight discount . Currently, however, the auction has already ended and if the number of interested parties is correct, the car was sold to an unnamed user at the asking price.
