Nissan Micra IG-T 90 K, Bose Personal Premium Edition – a return to the teenage years

Nissan Micra and its fifth generation, this is pouring new blood into the veins of this model.

Compared to the fourth generation, its design has undergone significant changes for the better. It's no longer round shapes everywhere you look, the fifth generation now offers you a sharply cut coat with an original and good-looking interior.

We've had the fifth generation on the market for some time now, and we've currently got our hands on its premium edition, the Nissan Micra Bose Personal Premium Edition.

And what is it actually about? It is a model whose equipment is based on the Tekna specification and is complemented by a premium Bose audio system and a typical exterior package.

The Bose Personal Premium Edition we tested was equipped with a nine-hundred-cylinder gasoline three-cylinder with turbocharging and a five-speed manual transmission.

EXTERIOR

The external appearance of the tested Nissan Micra cannot be praised. As part of its exterior appearance, the special Bose Personal Premium Edition had the Exterior Ultimate package in the color combination of gray and orange, complete with hood and roof decals.

The overall decent appearance was underlined by seventeen-inch aluminum wheels, which were shod in low-profile tires with a size of 205/45/R17.

Micra in its fifth generation comes with a dynamic and fresh appearance. A pair of moldings extends from the front mask, which run through the side parts and are extended to the trunk door.

The front part has large and elongated lights with a dynamic signature of daytime running lights. The lower part of the front bumper is underlined by a pair of lollipops, in our design, in a contrasting orange color. This accentuation also takes place in the lower part of the doors and within the rear bumper.

The side part of the car is very interesting, where the game of several lines takes place. Already mentioned, which goes around the entire car and a pair of lines that border the side windows.

The C-pillar is optically suppressed and materially blends with the rear and side windows, the rear door handle is also located in these areas. An interesting detail that we know, for example, from the Toyota C-HR or the recently tested Lexus RX 450h.

The entire area above the rear wheel gains strength, giving the Micra a very stable and sprawling impression.

Nissan Micra will simply amuse you with its appearance. Decent and decent factory "tunning" and a certain degree of individualization had a very positive effect on the car.

INTERIOR

The interior of the tested Micra has high-quality materials and good workmanship, it also responds to its playful exterior, the combination of black and orange is represented here in many parts.

The dashboard of the car has a simple and clear impression, in the tested version, interspersed with a "leather" orange belt with effective stitching. Its central part is dominated by the on-board infotainment display, which is decently fitted into the mentioned orange part of the dashboard.

The classic circular air conditioning controls are located below the display. This part is followed by the storage area of the center panel, which is effectively backlit. Within the central panel, we have a five-speed gearbox selector and a classic handbrake.

However, what I enjoyed a lot about the car and contributed to a good feeling about the car's controllability was the steering wheel. Its collar is quite subtle, and flattened at the bottom. The steering wheel was multifunctional with control of the audio system, cruise control or on-board computer.

The space on the back seats is adequate for the size of the car, quite decent for the class, but the window roll-down mechanism surprises. The Micra has a luggage compartment with a volume of 300 liters. The bottom of the trunk is quite deep, so you have to go over the edge of the bumper when loading.

ENGINE AND RIDE

The Micra we tested had a three-cylinder gasoline engine with a volume of 0.9 liters, which was turbocharged. This engine was combined with a five-speed manual gearbox. With its gradation, it is quite logically attuned to an urban environment. At highway speed, the engine rotates at around 3200 rpm and there is a clear overshoot in consumption. The operation and individual paths of the manual transmission selector can be classified as accurate.

But back to the engine, it has a power of 66 kW and a torque of 140Nm.

Unfortunately, the engine doesn't have much potential at low revs, here you wait for the turbo to pull in, which unfortunately comes with a certain delay. Another ailment of the engine is its long coasting, when, for example, when starting off, you dial up first gear more, shift into second gear and quickly let go of the clutch, the car jerks unpleasantly.

These are matters that require your attention and emotion. However, I personally think that after a few kilometers you will get used to it. On the other hand, the Micra is quite lively at higher revs.

Unfortunately, I haven't yet had the opportunity to try a different engine, the diesel version of the turbocharged 1500 has the same power, but higher torque, so the lack of power at low revs could be solved.

The tested Bose edition had 17-inch discs with low-profile tires that won't leave you with any holes, so the chassis has a harder and sportier impression.

Driving pleasure is the steering, which is precise and has a clear response. Combined with a well-fitting steering wheel, the Micra drives really well.

The initial disappointment of the performance of the three-cylinder engine, which you simply have to learn to work with, was eventually outweighed by the Micra's overall driving performance.

The manufacturer states a combined consumption of 4.6l/100km. We averaged around 6.5 l/100 km during the editorial test.

CONCLUSION

The Nissan Micra in the tested edition made a really big impression on me, despite the initial disappointment of its three-cylinder engine.

The Micra also reminded me of my automotive beginnings and my first car, it was also a small hatchback, which of course had aluminum wheels and good music :-).

The fifth generation Micra simply succeeded, and the tested version of the Bose Personal Premium Edition also takes it one notch higher.

The basic price of the car in VISIA equipment starts at 249,000 CZK, the car tested by us in the Bose Personal Premium Edition is now available at a special price of 384,990 CZK.

The fifth generation Micra is an interesting choice and we can only recommend it.
