Next year, the VC of Austria for Formula 1 cars will be held

A new European Grand Prix will enrich the Formula 1 calendar next year. But the word new doesn't really fit here, because Bernie Ecclestone officially confirmed the return to Austria , where it was last raced in 2003.

At that time, the circuit was called A1-Ring . But a lot has changed since then, including the owner of the circuit. This became the Red Bull company headed by billionaire Dietrich Mateschitz.

In a few years, the circuit was completely reconstructed and you can see, for example , DTM races on it. At the same time, the Red Bull Ring , as the circuit's official name sounds, has already asked once to return to the calendar. In vain. Only now has an agreement been reached: "Dietrich Mateschitz and Bernie Ecclestone have reached an agreement and Formula 1 will return to Styria next year," reads the official statement . The fixed date of the New Year's Grand Prix is not yet known, the media is speculating about the sixth of July.

At the same time, Bernie Ecclestone admitted that there will not be more than twenty races next year. However, with the planned arrival of Russia, Austria and New Jersey, we reach number 22. So who will be out of the round ? Chile is mainly speculated about the VC of Korea, which has so far failed to meet expectations in terms of attendance. Ecclestone will probably announce who it will be at the end of the holidays.
