You're sure to think that the new Miata will cut it short in racing. And then you will surely be happy that it is not just some concept but a harbinger of the fact that Mazda is preparing a new series of Global Cup races.
The announcement was made Tuesday at the SEMA Show . The races will take place in 2016, i.e. a year after the start of sales of the new generation. During the season, racers will visit North America , Europe and Asia , competing with identical cars with 2.0 SkyActiv engines. The final race at the end of the season will be the American event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in California . The winner will receive one-day testing of the prototype from the TUDOR United States SportsCar Championship SKYACTIV races . From which countries the competitors will be invited and where the other races will be held are yet to be confirmed, as well as other technical details about the cars.
