The British brand Lotus basically originated on racing tracks, so it is only natural that we can still see its models on them today. Now a new member of the family has been added, which goes by the name Elise S Cup R . This is a purely circuit version of the lightweight Elise S model, intended for the 2014 Lotus Cup championship.
The kinship with the road Elis is clear at first glance. However, the circuit Cup R received a more prominent body kit , which is intended to adapt the car's aerodynamic properties to racing use. Namely, these are new bumpers, sills, rear wing and diffuser, front splitter, fixed roof and more. The rear window was replaced with polycarbonate and the total weight of the car remained at a sympathetic 924 kilograms . The wheels are made of light alloy and have 175/55 R16 Yokohama tires on the front axle and 225/45 R17 on the rear axle. On the front wheels we can find fixed two-piston brakes made of aluminum alloy, on the rear floating single -piston brakes.
The Elise S Cup R is powered by a 1.8 liter 16-valve four-cylinder in the center from Toyota , supercharged by a Magnuson R900 supercharger. It goes without saying that the ECU engine control unit has been reprogrammed. Through a six-speed manual transmission , 220 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque flow to the rear wheels. According to the official statement, these values can improve the car's time by 4 seconds on a three and a half kilometer circuit compared to the standard Elise S. Special battery protection and adjustable shock absorbers with springs are part of the equipment of the special.
In the interior, according to FI A specifications , a safety cage , a removable racing steering wheel and a fire extinguisher can be expected. A special seat with six-point belts is prepared for the driver, while it is possible to pay extra for a seat for the passenger, which offers four-point belts. The list of additional features also includes air conditioning, a race-specification tank or ultralight wheels. Lotus officially states the base price of the Elise S Cup R special at 39,125 pounds without VAT , i.e. roughly 1.3 million crowns.
