Kia comes with a modified Cee'd

The current trend in the lower middle class is supercharged liter three-cylinders , perhaps only helping consumption and European bureaucracy. Kia, which presented the ecoTurbo unit for the first time in the spring in Geneva, had to adapt. Together with the comprehensive facelift of the Cee'd family , its more massive expansion is taking place.

The three-cylinder petrol engine in the Pro_Cee'du, Cee'du and Cee'du SW produces 100 or 120 hp and 172 Nm between 1500 – 4000 rpm. Considering the main purpose of the engine, it is not surprising that it will be the most fuel-efficient version of the model produced in Slovakia. If you still prefer naturally aspirated units, you can go for the 1.4 MPI with 100 hp or the 1.6 GDI with 128 hp. The diesel range starts with the proven 14-cylinder CRDi , however, the upgraded 16 -cylinder CRDi with 110 or 136 horsepower should be much more desirable. The stronger version boasts a torque of 285 Nm from 1500 rpm. Another new feature is a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic for the most powerful diesel CRDi in conjunction with the powertrain. The self-developed transmission thus complements the six-speed manual or dual-clutch automatic for the 1.6 GDI.

Do not expect significant changes in terms of appearance. In the front part, the bumper with chrome frames around the fog lights and the grid of the radiator grille was changed, at the back, the group lights received changed graphics from LEDs and the bumper was given a more pronounced shape. The offer of cast wheels was enriched by a fresh set of "16" and 17" wheels. The cabin should now be of better quality to the touch and look. The second attribute is enhanced by the chrome frames of the ventilation and alarm clocks, decorations around the gearbox, ventilation controls and door handles made of the same material or the shiny black part of the center console. It can be dominated by a modified seven-inch display multimedia system with digital radio reception or navigation. The Brown Pack design interior package with brown seat upholstery and door panels will also be available for an additional fee.

Diesel engines have more damping materials in the area of the floor platform, engine block, oil sump and particulate filter. The instrument panel is additionally insulated with double the amount of cushioning foam. By using hollow stabilizer bars, it was possible to reduce noise, vibration and shaking from the Cee'd suspension in all engines. An important innovation in the direction of greater comfort is the use of torque vectoring, as well as improvements to the electronic power steering, new stops at the rear strut mount silentblocks and new external ball joints at the rear stabilizer bar. The range of assistance systems now includes speed limit sign recognition, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and an improved parking assistant for perpendicular and longitudinal parking.

The highlight of the range remains the sporty Pro_Cee'd GT and Cee'd GT with a T-GDI turbocharged 16-cylinder engine with a power of 204 hp and a torque of 265 Nm. The only change to this unit is an increase in boost pressure , improving the 0.1 second sprint to 100 km/h (now 7.6 seconds) while reducing CO2 emissions to 171g/km. The brake discs can optionally have a diameter of up to 320 mm, the braking distance at a speed of 100 km/h is thus shortened from 36.4 meters to 35 meters. Appearance modifications mirror the standard design, with the only change being the 18-inch alloy wheels . Inside there is a new flattened steering wheel, aluminum start button and power window switches and of course Recaro sports seats. Perhaps for a better driving experience, Kia installed an electronic engine sound generator in the interior, activated by the GT Mode button on the steering wheel.
