A single-seater for electric formula races will be shown in Frankfurt

Spark Racing Technology will present the future of formula racing in Frankfurt. Spark-Renault SRT_01E , as the new single-seater is called, is intended for the completely new category of electric formulas FIA Formula E , which will be raced for the first time in September next year.

The basis of the monopost is the Dallara chassis , which is made of carbon and aluminum. The roughly five-meter-long formula is powered by an electric motor with a power of 272 horsepower. During the race, however, the pilots will only use this power for a short time – by default, the power will be limited to 181 horses.

Acceleration to 100 km/h should take place in about 3 seconds , the FIA limits the maximum speed to 225 km/h. Special Michelin tires are used to transfer power to the road.

In the first season, which should start in September next year , the FIA expects to field ten teams, each with two drivers. So are we looking at the future of racing?
