Hyundai Grand Santa Fe 2.2 CRDI AT

As the very title of the article suggests, this time a real corsair passed our weekly editorial test. In the Hyundai car company, they played around with their highest and largest line of SUVs, sold under the name Santa Fe , adding length here and there, adding a seat here and there, and its new Grand version rolled off the production line.

The car company, which does not need to be introduced, because we all know the tempting TV commercials well and a lot of us Czechs don't really buy the overpriced tradition, this time presented a real flagship.

As you can see, in this article you will encounter the boating analogy very often. Many of you will surely say that you should not mix apples and pears, but this time we will talk about a case that really confirms this wise rule.

Let's start with the engine and transmission. A two-hundred-horsepower diesel two with a CRDI injection system is enough power for the corsair to ensure a brisk takeoff from a standstill. It also handles flexible acceleration, and you can exceed and maintain higher than permitted speeds with it very easily. That is, when loaded by two people. In the event that friends or family come aboard, it is necessary to travel with caution and to anticipate. Longer braking distance and room for acceleration is again very similar to boating.

The six-speed automatic transmission, both in normal mode and in sport mode, behaves simply brilliantly. The third possible driving mode, Eco, is a real cruise with a fresh breeze at your back. We are certainly not talking about premium brands here with their transmissions, but without hesitation it can be said that this transmission will really be more than adequate for your driving.

The parallels used are perhaps only refuted by the behavior of the car in corners. You put the steering wheel in the ideal, sorry, desired track, and the car actually circles the corner radius with a surprising effect. Not only that, but the engineers adjusted the chassis in such a way that the expected tilt does not occur. Or, to be clear, there won't be one that at least a knowledgeable person would expect with such a mass of kilos and the height of the car.

This corsair for the captain and six other crew members, yes, the Grand version is a seven seater. It is suitable for trips for family recreation and adventure with friends. Personally, I am not afraid to highlight its advantages purely for representative purposes. In the dark shades of the optional paint palette in combination with chrome strips and shiny details, there is definitely nothing to be ashamed of even in the company of big Mercedes, BMW and Audi.

On the other hand, with or without a sailor's pipe, you can smile slyly when comparing its prices. The price of the tested version is just under 1.3 million crowns and I really don't remember what extra equipment was missing from the car. At random, driving assistant (lane monitoring), adaptive cruise control, parking cameras (also on the sides), automatic parking system, heated steering wheel and seats, together with the possibility of their ventilation, panoramic roof, electronic lid of the fifth door, … and I'm on a lot of things he certainly didn't even name it. (More about equipment, ideally at a Hyundai dealer.)

In conclusion, it is difficult to think what could be criticized. There was not a single aspect of the technical design in the equipment that was perhaps suitable for sailing across the Atlantic, which would not be satisfactory in comparison with the selling price. If you're considering a really big car for a large family, gather up your loved ones, including your pets, and head to your nearest dealership for your first cruise in the Grand Santa Fe. A-HO-Y.
