VC of Hungary: Hamilton won his second victory

The last weekend of July is in the spirit of both the Olympic Games and the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix . After qualifying, Briton Lewis Hamilton took pole position . Alongside the 2008 world champion, the Frenchman Romain Grosjean took to the starting grid . The third place at the start was won by the reigning champion German Sebastian Vettel . Only the sixth starting position was left for the current leader, the Spaniard Fernando Alonso . The seven-time world champion and record holder for the number of victories at the Hungarorig , Michael Schumacher , was forced to start from the pit lane after technical difficulties.

After a dramatic and repeated start, Hamilton defended the leading position. Button moved to the third place. Alonso also improved by one position. Webber performed fantastically, moving from 11th to seventh during the first lap.

The relatively calm course of the driving race, primarily driven by team strategy, did not bring any dramatic moments in its first half. The race started to gain momentum only in the 47th lap, when the two teammates Räikkönen and Grosjean fought. Kimi was able to squeeze in front of the Frenchman as he exited the pit lane, putting him in second position within sight of the leader Hamilton.

However, he didn't let anyone in front of him and crossed the finish line first, thus claiming his second victory this season. Räikkönen finished in second place, one second ahead of teammate Grosjean. Fernando Alonso eventually finished in fifth place and thus defended the overall lead in the championship. The second Webber, who finished eighth in the race, is already 40 points behind him.
