Honda Civic – First info on the 2014 WTCC special

Honda has unveiled the first image and driver list of the new Civic that will enter the 2014 WTCC World Touring Car Championship season.

Two days ago we presented you with a nice Civic Tourer prepared for the 2014 season of the BTCC circuit championship . Today we have the "regular" hatchback Civic heading to a higher class in the same season, namely the WTCC World Touring Car Championship.

Honda released the first image of the special, in which we can see more pronounced fender edges, larger wheels and optimized aerodynamics compared to its predecessor. The manufacturer does not say what is hidden under the hood, but in previous seasons a 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder engine was used.

As for the drivers who will ride the modified Civic next year, they will be Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro for the factory-backed JAS Motorsport team. The combination of their first names forms the Gabriago inscription on the second side window of the car in the picture. The other Civic drivers will be the Hungarian Norbert Michelisz from the Zengo Motorsport team and the Moroccan Mehdi Bennani driving under the wings of Proteam Racin g.

Racing Civics on the WTCC tracks are successful machines, but next season will be extremely challenging for them. The nine-time WRC champion Sébastien Loeb will also arrive at the starting field behind the wheel of the C-Elysée special from Citroën !
