The Ferrari 250 GTO goes on sale

There are cars that are expensive, then there are cars that represent an investment for the future. And then there's the Ferrari 250 GTO . You've probably never seen it live, because it holds the title of the most expensive car sold in the world. You simply cannot park such a piece in front of a discotheque. This particular "250" has GT chassis #3851 and is the 19th of a total of 39 GTOs built, and under the hood is a four-liter V12 with 300 horsepower. Since 1965 it has been owned by one family. It was produced in 1962, when it was taken over by Jo Schlesser , who started with it in the same year at the Tour de France . In the end, he and co-driver Henri Oreiller finished the competition in second position. The car had an accident at the Montlhery racetrack , then Paolo Colombo bought it and repaired it, then it changed hands twice more before it was bought by Fabrizio Violati in 1965. If you're already thinking about getting this beauty home, head to the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance . Maybe you will choose a car other than this Ferrari there…
