Euro NCAP – 5 stars for the new Octavia

For its high level of safety, the new Skoda Octavia received the best possible five-star rating from Euro NCAP . The top overall rating is an award for the excellent results achieved by the new Octavia in the area of protection of adult passengers and children in the interior, protection of pedestrians and assistance safety systems.

The award was given by the Euro NCAP association for the protection of passengers in the front seats. The new Skoda Octavia received 93% of the maximum possible number of points in this category. The car's cabin remains stable, the mannequins sitting in front were almost untouched after the impact. Also, the protection of adult passengers of different heights is always equally good. The new Octavia also achieves good results in the area of child protection . Pedestrian protection was also positively evaluated by the examiners. A convincing argument was the presence of modern safety assistance systems.

The new Skoda Octavia also uses active safety systems, which until now have been reserved for cars of higher classes. These include Front Assistant with an emergency brake function, Lane Assistant , which keeps the car in the lane, multi-collision brake with automatic activation in the event of an accident, Crew Protect Assistant preparing space for the driver and front passenger for an impending collision, or Driver Activity Assistant to detect driver fatigue . These systems help prevent accidents or mitigate their consequences for the crew and other road users.

The safety of the driver and the crew is ensured by an extensive package of passive safety elements. Up to nine airbags along with three-point seat belts protect them from injury. For the first time in the Octavia model range, a knee airbag and rear side airbags appear as standard. Stable driving characteristics are ensured by a precisely tuned chassis, a long wheelbase and a rigid body structure.
