Enge: Failures drive us forward

The German ADAC GT Masters race weekend at the Sachsenring did not go as expected for the Reiter Engineering team and the crew consisting of Tomáš Enge , Albert von Thurn und Taxis . However, the Czech rider does not see it in the dark and is looking forward to the next challenge in the form of the Italian Monza .

"Unfortunately, our expectations were not fulfilled at the Sachsenring. We wanted to be in the top ten, but coincidence did not allow us to do so. As we announced before the weekend, this type of track is also not suitable for our Camaro GT3. Other problems were added to this and we cannot be satisfied with the result," Tomáš Enge summed up the past weekend at the beginning.

Albert von Thurn und Taxis completed the first qualification and took eighteenth place. In addition, the German rider collided with one of the rivals and broke the wheel suspension. The mechanics of the Reiter Engineering team thus had to deal with the repair of the car before Enge's qualification. "Unfortunately, the qualification did not work out for us, but it was clear from the first training sessions that it would not be easy here. In addition, after Albert's accident, we didn't have time to do the wet set-up and I couldn't do better than the twelfth row. In the first race, we also had problems with the starter, so the mechanics had to push our car. In the end, we fought for fifteenth place," said Enge .

However, the crew of the black Camaro GT3 did not finish Sunday's race. "In the second run, Albert's half-axle splattered. It was the second such problem this year and we have to focus on it. We don't have a problem with defective material, but the power and torque are so strong that the material simply cannot withstand it, " said Tomáš about the second racing run.

The next event for the Czech racer will be the International GT Open at Monza , Italy, where he will drive a Camaro GT3 together with Maximilian Völker, with whom he already started at the opening event of this championship at the Nürburgring. "On the contrary, this circuit should suit our car. We already tested here at the beginning of the year and were satisfied. Now we are still testing the new aerodynamic elements as part of the homologation, so we believe that this will move us a little further," added the Liberec competitor in conclusion.
