Enge takes two second places from Thailand

Tomáš Enge continued his busy schedule last weekend. After the race in America, he only took a spin in Europe and continued with the entire Reiter Engineering team to Thailand, where the second round of the local GT3 car championship took place. “We arrived in Thailand well ahead of time because we spent three days intensively testing. High temperatures prevailed here. Such heat was already very uncomfortable. In addition, we were also plagued by high humidity. I've probably never raced in such conditions before," remarked the Czech rider.

Before the weekend, there was a big fight for the first position between last year's championship champion Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak and the Czech driver. Enge won Thursday's free practice, beating his competitor by one-tenth. But there was no further comparison. Inthraphuvasak withdrew from the race due to health issues. But Enge did not have an easy path. “I managed to win qualifying and set a new track record, beating last year's record by three tenths of a second. But I also had 70 kilograms in the car for first and second place from the previous race. So it's an incredible result," Tomáš Enge smiled on Friday.

On Saturday, however, he got off to a not-so-successful start and the Liberec competitor fell to second position behind teammate Chonsawat Asavahame. "It's difficult to overtake here. I waited to see if Chonsawat would make a mistake, but he didn't. To risk scrapping both cars would be irresponsible. We are going for victory as a team, and everything must be subject to that," the Liberec driver evaluated the first ride. The Reiter Vattana Motorsport driver had the same problem in the second race of the weekend. "I don't know if it was the weight, but even in the second race I dropped to second position. It's really very technical here and it's not easy to come up with something for an equally fast rider. But I'll take the two second places because I moved to the front of the championship. It was a very successful weekend for the whole team," concluded Enge .

The very next Monday, Reiter Engineering is waiting for the first ever test of the Camaro GT3 on the legendary Nordschleife circuit. Already this year, the German team is preparing to start in at least one of the Langstrecken Meisterschaft Nürburgring (VLM) championship races.
