BMW 3.0 CS – the old 6 Series still shines

Thirty years before Doug Churchill from Canada became the happy owner of his BMW , he saw a beautiful blonde in a BMW CS . This decided which car he would buy one day. Then in 2003 he came across a site where the owner was restoring and modifying another BMW CS and became a regular enthusiastic reader. When the car came up for sale a year later, Doug didn't hesitate for a second and immediately bought the 1973 E9 3.0 CS . He drove the car home 1,450 kilometers on summer semi-slicks, although there was already snow in many places in Canada at that time. It took 36 hours, but he finally arrived home safely. It was only at the corner of his street that the car skidded under him and flew into the bushes, but fortunately nothing was damaged.

The car is in excellent condition and decently maintained, so Doug takes great pleasure in long drives into the nearby mountains or long trips to the coast, which he does at least once a year. He took the best experiences from the route that started in Alberta in Waterton National Park and led to West Glacier in Montana . Along the way he passed Chief Mountain , Glacier National Park, Logan Pass and the Sun Road . All this in the second half of September, when these roads are practically empty.

When it's not the riding season, Doug spends his time in the garage. It changes and refurbishes worn parts and treats the paintwork. It's part of that great feeling of owning a dream car. And whenever he turns on the radio, he dreams and imagines the next trips he will take with his BMW.
