I was honestly looking forward to the editorial test of this car for a very long time. For me, the Skoda Superb, its third generation, represents the most beautiful Skoda from the brand's currently offered range of cars. Let's add to this the most powerful engine supplied in combination with the DSG automatic transmission, all-wheel drive, the best equipment and color, which pushes the Superb tested by us absolutely off the beaten track of this model. Skoda Superb Sportline is the automaker's attempt to move this spacious limousine up another level, mainly thanks to the sportiness and sex appeal that this version possesses. The term Sportline also brings a certain amount of originality and partial individualization to Mladá Boleslav cars.
On the other hand, let's understand the term Sportline mainly as another level of equipment, which, however, brings a certain added value to the cars in terms of appearance, both in the area of exterior and interior.
The exterior of the Superb Sportline is peppered with several differences compared to the classic version. These are primarily black accessories, i.e. the black color of, for example, the front mask, side mirrors, side window trim, or the black, very discreet tear-off edge of the trunk lid. We also have a chrome pair of exhaust tips, nineteen-inch alloy wheels and a 15mm lowered adaptive chassis. In addition, the tested car had the color that the automaker offers under the name Dragon Skin, but this is the color that has the biggest share in the already mentioned originality and in the feeling that must satisfy every extrovert when everyone turns around to see your car. This feeling is all the more interesting when the center of attention becomes just such a gray mouse as our Skoda Superb is. Personally, I am not an extrovert, but with the tested Superb it was impossible not to resist and enjoy this feeling.
The interior of the car naturally offers you all the elements of a classic Superb, which are primarily dominated by the enormous interior space. The space on the back seats and the space in the luggage compartment are generally renowned for the vehicle, and we have already informed you about this in our previous tests. The Superb Sportline has interior elements that of course set it apart, such as the Alcantara-covered car seats or interior door panels, as well as, for example, a black roof panel or "carbon" imitation within the dashboard, and of course the Sportline plaque, which is placed on the dashboard, must not be missing either. board in front of the passenger. The dashboard is dominated by a 9.2-inch touch screen of the Columbus multimedia system, through which you control the radio, telephone, navigation or the choice of driving modes. Also worth mentioning is the multifunctional three-spoke steering wheel, which looks very elegant with its stitching and flattened lower part. Otherwise, the rest of the interior is in keeping with SKODA classics, intuitive and ergonomically well designed.
The Superb we tested was equipped with the most powerful drive unit offered by the Mladá Boleslav carmaker. It is a turbocharged four-cylinder two-liter with an output of 280 horsepower (206kW), which is combined with a six-speed DSG automatic. The six-cylinder engine that the previous generation was proud of is unfortunately missing from this generation. The power of the engine, which is distributed to both axles, is dosed constantly, in a very wide range of revolutions, without any turbo hole or any indication of its turbocharging. The Superb can accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds , its maximum speed is then limited to 250 km/h . The tested car was equipped with an adaptive chassis, the control of which is included in the drive mode selector, which offers Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport and Individual options. In the Comfort mode, the ride is extremely comfortable and quite bouncy, while the Sport mode offers a clear and noticeable hardening of the chassis, stiffer steering and, of course, a different operation of the automatic transmission and a sharper reaction of the car to the gas pedal. The Superb Sportline with a tested motorization can easily put a smile on your face, switching to sports mode in combination with paddle shifters under the steering wheel and Czech districts, into which European money has been poured, make it easy for you. On the other hand, we have a very spacious and comfortable vehicle, it is up to you in which mode you want to move. And it is this certain diversity of certain cars that I personally enjoy a lot. As part of the editorial "sportline" test, our consumption was around 9.4 liters , and in connection with the performance that the car offers you, this is a quite acceptable figure.
Skoda Superb Sportline starts at a price of CZK 897,900 including VAT (in the 1.8TSI / 132kW version), the version tested by us starts at a price of CZK 1,142,900 including VAT (2.0 TSI / 206kW 4×4 AP) in the Dargon color version It is then necessary to add another 22,900 CZK to the skin .
For me, the tested Superb is the imaginary cherry on the cake within the offer of this model. It can be comfortable, it can be fast, it can be spacious, it can be original to a certain extent and I would definitely need it 🙂 .
