The oldest preserved Mercedes-Benz 300 SL for sale!

On the occasion of the recent presentation of the Mercedes SL, the manufacturer decided to send out a press release, in which there is information about the restoration of the original model 300 SL W 194 from 1952. If, like me, both corners are running slowly upwards, that's only good.

The restored Mercedes-Benz 300 SL bears the marking 194 010 0000 2 / 52 on its chassis. However, the last digit before the slash, indicating the chassis number, is authoritative. This is indeed the oldest preserved piece, which together with number 1 was assembled by hand in the workshop of Rudolf Uhlenhaut in Stuttgart. The remaining 8 cars from the series were mainly used for racing purposes.

Mercedes-Bezn Classic Centrum undertook the restoration of the old shine, which set itself the goal of delivering work of the highest quality, with the most authentic result. That is why the whole event took more than five months, during which the original discrepancies were preserved to indicate the manual assembly of a particular model.

Of course, the three-liter six-cylinder also passed through the hands of master engine builders. However, it was not an easy job due to the acute shortage of spare parts. In any case, everything was successfully completed and the unit now produces approximately 125 kW of power. Due to the low weight of the car (1060 kg), it is no problem to attack the maximum speed of 230 km/h.
