Tough Australian test for Tomáš Enge

"It was definitely not a good weekend," Tomáš Enge begins to talk about his first Australian appearance after his arrival. "Thursday's free training sessions went quite well for us. Subsequently, however, there were problems with the electronics in the shifting, due to which we did not participate in the qualification and subsequently not even in the second weekend race."

In the first race, the Liberec competitor had to start from the last row. After a few laps, he reached the middle of the starting field in a thirty-minute drive, but the subsequent safety car and pit stops put him back at the very tail. “The Australian GT Championship has a pit stop time penalty for professional drivers. Because of this, I found myself behind again. It is of course a diversion for the spectators, as even the slower riders are back in the game for the front row. In the end, however, I fought my way to twelfth place, which was a success considering the completion of only five laps in racing mode," Enge added to Saturday's program.

Tomáš's co-driver Justin Mc Millan did not take part in the second race, because he encountered problems with the electronics on the gearbox again in the opening round. However, the mechanics of the M Motorsport team managed to solve them overnight, but due to not completing the second race, the Australian racer started from the last position again on Sunday. "Right at the beginning, several cars crashed at the same time and the safety car had to go on the track again. Justin rode only the last five laps, which was enough for seventeenth place. It wasn't an easy weekend for me because even though I know the Camaro very well, I've never driven on the track here. It was the exact opposite for Justin, but the Australian Championship, with V8 racing as its main program, is a great experience for everyone involved. The main V8 series is incredible and by far the best touring series, surpassing even the DTM and WTCC. The track was very bumpy and technical. I would love to come back here, but also anywhere in Australia," said the full-fledged member of the Reiter Engineering team on his first start this year.

Tomáš Enge has a lot of test kilometers waiting for him in the coming days and weeks, either with Lamborghini , Camaro or the new KTM X-Bow GTR . "In the coming days, my complete racing calendar for this year should also develop and unravel, where my main program will again be the Thai Championship. I will definitely update my fans soon on my website or social media.”
