Austin Mini – The Cooper craze

Steve Hayward from Ontario , Canada, was crazy about cars in his childhood, like any true petrolhead. His father's collection of English Dinka songs , which he played with as a boy, was probably to blame. He painted cars and even read at night, he was simply obsessed with them. Until his father decided that together they would buy and restore a 1969 MGB . Even before they finished the restoration, his father decided that the next car would be a traditional Mini . Indeed, he once owned this himself both in the United Kingdom and later in Canada. Finally, Steve found an ad for a 1969 Austin Mini that had the mechanicals already restored. Later they decided to buy the car.

During the last year, the car had a newly renovated interior with custom upholstery made in Toronto . After a thorough inspection of the paintwork, a complete respray was also decided. The Crush Orange color is not from the UK swatch, but may be recognized by Jeep Wrangler owners. Steve and his father didn't like her at first, but they grew to like her very quickly. During the restoration, the original engine was replaced with a 1275 cc unit from Austin America , so the Cooper designation is no longer so misleading. In addition, new ten-inch wheels and bigger brakes. This only enhances the Mini's strong point – cornering.

Through renovating together, Steve developed a strong bond with his father. Nothing can replace the time they spent together in the garage and on the road. In addition, Steve's two-year-old son loves to play around in the garage. And it seems with even more passion than Steve once did. So three whole generations are crazy about one little British car.
