New entrant to GT racing: BMW Motorsport is developing the BMW M6 GT3 for the 2016 season.

In 2016, BMW Motorsport will add a new chapter to its success story in GT racing. The BMW M6 GT3 will replace the BMW Z4 GT3 , which has been running since 2010. The development of the new car is in full swing. The first test drives of the model, which is based on the BMW M6 Coupé , are planned for the first quarter of 2015. Customers will be able to purchase the BMW M6 GT3 from the end of 2015, allowing them to enter the BMW Sports Trophy series with the new car in the 2016 season. the date from which cars can be ordered will be announced later.

"For me, as Director of BMW Motorsport, there are few things more exciting than the development of a completely new car like the BMW M6 GT3," said BMW Motorsport Head Jens Marquardt . “The characteristics of this car predestined it to surpass the BMW Z4 GT3. The BMW Z4 GT3 has enjoyed a number of successes around the world in recent years and is popular with our customers. We, with the BMW M6 GT3, naturally want to build on these successes. We have therefore set ourselves the goal of offering our customers the best available technology. With the new BMW M6 GT3, we also want to demonstrate the potential of BMW M cars in the world of racing cars. We are all very much looking forward to seeing it in the first tests. One thing is clear from the first drawings: this car will have a wow factor. It goes without saying that we will continue to provide full support to our BMW Z4 GT3 customers as they have come to expect from us.”

The heart of the BMW M6 GT3 is the BMW M Twin Power Turbo eight-cylinder petrol engine with a volume of 4.4 l. This engine is known from the series model and has been modified for the specific needs of racing. The chassis undergoes modifications according to the requirements of the race tracks at the BMW Motorsport department in Munich. Of course, the car will be equipped with the most modern racing technology, for example a racing gearbox, racing ABS and racing electronics. Here too, BMW Motorsport emphasizes safety, reliability and affordable operating costs. Thanks to this, future customers of the BMW M6 GT3 will be able to fully participate in individual races without the financial burden being too high.
