TOP – The BMW 1 Series will also be available in a sedan version!

If someone had told me not long ago that we would see a BMW 1 Series in a sedan body, I would have considered them a fool. At this point, however, I would be pouring ashes on my own head. Are you asking why? The answer is the report of the British magazine Autocar , which predicts the arrival of the three-seater number one already in 2015. BMW thus thinks about the post of the best seller of the premium segment, while it is in the primary plan to fill the key markets in the USA and China.

Given that the new 3 series has grown significantly and has become dimensionally closer to the five, a gap has arisen in the manufacturer's portfolio that needs to be filled. The target group of customers is therefore already clearly defined – those for whom the three is too big and do not want to reach for a hatchback in any case. An important aspect is also the fact that the small sedan will be considered a spiritual successor to the popular E30 series, which was discontinued in 1994.

The new body will be built on the platform of the current 1 Series hatchback and will use many of the design elements of the bigger three. Based on this information, one day we can also expect a BMW 1 Series GT , which would offer customers a practical rear folding wall.

Like the platform, the engine palette will remain. Modern turbocharged gasoline and diesel four-cylinder engines will appear under the hood, as well as a three-liter six-cylinder gasoline engine with an output of over 300 horsepower. The automaker is also considering a fully electric version.
