For more than 30 years, the town of Reifnitz on the Austrian lake Wörthersee has always been a meeting place for fans of tuning Volkswagen cars in May. This year, SKODA presented two design studies here, based on the new Citigo minivan. However, we will only focus on one of them – the Skoda Citigo Rally.
The SKODA Citigo Rally design study is an attractive minivan with a black roof and several black accessories. It impresses with massive bumpers, a roof spoiler and a front with a large intake opening. Stability and convincing traction are promised by wide low-profile tires on forged 18″ light alloy wheels. Rally specials are reminiscent of generously dimensioned fenders and massive door sills, which extend the Citigo by several centimeters on each side. The rear of the car is dominated by a centrally located exhaust tip, integrated in the bumper with a diffuser function. Appropriate downforce while driving should be increased by the wing, which follows the roof line.
The interior of the SKODA Citigo Rally study also differs from the production car. The driver and passenger have safety shell seats, the instrument panel is made of lightweight parts and there are also purely functional vehicle controls on the center console, as we know them from competition specials. The safety of the crew is ensured by a built-in safety frame made of high-strength tubes. It is clear from the prevailing reactions of visitors to the GTI meeting at Wörthersee that many of them would like to see the car, which is only a design study at the moment, on the roads.
The study, inspired by rally cars, was presented at the very moment when the SKODA Citigo enters the main European markets. Therefore, the SKODA Citigo production car equipped with an attractive Sport Design package was also exhibited at Wörthersee, which customers can order from the factory or additionally by ordering from the range of original accessories.
