Range Rover Sport set a new record in the SUV category on the Pikes Peak course

Perhaps every motoring fan is familiar with the famous Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race. The international event takes place every year at the end of June in the USA. Professional driver Ari Vatanen with the Peugeot 405 T16 hillclimb special or Rhyse Millen with the new Hyundai Genesis Coupe , who set a track record here, became famous here.

Now, however, Range Rover has decided to step onto this famous track, which drove the latest Sport model here with a turbocharged five-liter V8 engine with a capacity of 510 horsepower. For race purposes, the Range was slightly modified. Multi-point safety belts, a protective cage and a large-volume fire extinguisher were placed in the interior. However, don't expect changes under the hood.

Are you asking about the result that the massive SUV achieved in the final measurement? According to the official timekeeper, the new Range Rover Sport managed to cover this 20 kilometer track in 12 minutes and 35.61 seconds. This means a new track record in the series sports SUV category. Racing driver Paul Dallenbach was behind the wheel, and his average speed with the Range was exactly 95.23 km/h.
