Formula 1 – VC Malaysia

Already a week after the opening event in Australia , the Formula 1 teams moved to Sepang , where the World Championship continued with its second event. In general, Malaysia was expected to have an interesting race and play with the weather, but in the end it was a rather boring spectacle.

At the start, the drivers lined up in the order of Vettel, Massa, Alonso, Hamilton, Webber, Rosberg, Button, Sutil, Pérez and Räikkönen , who received a three-place penalty for blocking Rosberg in qualifying.

The start of the race itself was not without minor dramas, when even before it, raindrops fell on the circuit. This caused the entire field to start on tires into transient conditions. The start was the best for Vettel , who stayed ahead of the Ferrari pair without any problems. She changed positions, but not for long. In the second corner, Alonso smashed into Sebastian Vettel's car and damaged his front wing. Massa had already managed to fall behind Webber.

Alonso, with a damaged wing, continued the whole lap in second position. When the Spaniard was expected to pit for a change, Alonso did not do so and decided to stay on the track, which backfired on him cruelly. On the finish line, not only was Webber overtaking him, but the whole wing broke , got under the car and that meant the end for Alonso , who drove his two hundredth grand prix in Sepang. Massa also had a bad time, falling from second position to both Mercedes, which meanwhile dealt with Button, who was driving well.

After five laps the order was settled: 1. Vettel, 2. Webber, 3. Hamilton, 4. Rosberg, 5. Button. Just one lap later, leader Sebastian Vettel pitted for dry tyres, while his rival and Red Bull team-mate decided to wait on track, which proved to be a good strategic move. Thanks to a later stop and a clear track, Webber returned to the leading position in the 8th lap . Apart from Red Bull, nothing has changed in the top five.

In the same lap as Webber, Hamilton also headed to the pits, but instead of a quick stop, he presented himself with a laughable mistake when he drove into the McLaren pit. Fortunately, he quickly corrected his hesitation. The phase after the first pit stops was rather boring, unless you count the Vergne-Pic collision in the pits, Maldonado's off-track trip or Force India's nut problems as excitement. But all this took place beyond the borders of the top ten.

In the twentieth lap , the order was still the same: 1. Webber, 2. Vettel, 3. Hamilton, 4. Rosberg, 5. Button. Mark Webber started the second pit stops on the twentieth lap, followed by Vettel, Hamilton and Rosberg. After the second stops, the order at the front did not change.

A wave of third pit stops followed on lap 32 , which brought at least a little excitement as Hamilton moved ahead of Vettel in the order . However, the harder tires didn't fit Hamilton the way he needed and Vettel got in front of him on the 39th lap and started to overtake Hamilton immediately towards Mark Webber. The drama in the pit lane was shown by Button, whose mechanics fixed the wheel incorrectly, as well as Räikkönen and Hülkenberg , who almost collided with each other when the German did not peel away from his stand as quickly as he should have.

On the 44th lap, Mark Webber decided to pit for the fourth stop , returning just ahead of Sebastian Vettel, who had already stopped. For a few laps, both of them were chasing each other (Vettel complained that he was faster before the stops, so that the team would clear Webber out of his way), until in the 46th lap there was a nice fight , where although one did not give anything to the other, everything went fairly . Vettel took the lead after a few corners and didn't let go of the result, even though Webber tried to turn around.

Even in third and fourth place, nothing special happened until the end of the race, although it could, because Rosberg was obviously faster than Hamilton , who was also saving fuel. But an order from the boss is an order from the boss and Rosberg had to hold back. With six laps to go, the order looked like this: 1. Vettel, 2. Webber, 3. Hamilton, 4. Rosberg, 5. Grosjean, 6. Massa, 7. Räikkönen, 8. Pérez, 9. Hülkenberg, 10. Gutiérrez.

By the end of the race, only Grosjean and Massa swapped positions, and Jean-Eric Vergne took tenth place. The rest passed without unnecessary dramas (although Rosberg complained to the team why he couldn't overtake Hamilton) and Sebastian Vettel became the winner , ahead of a certainly frustrated Mark Webber, who drove an excellent race. Both Mercedes are in a similar situation, on the other hand, the Ferrari and Lotus camps will probably be a little angry.

The next race is held on April 14 in Shanghai , China.
