Volvo presented the second of three concepts with a new design

The second of the three new concept cars from the Swedish car manufacturer Volvo is the Concept XC Coupé . Inspired by the design of modern sports equipment and demonstrating safety technology built on Volvo's new modular architecture , this car is created for people with an active lifestyle.

As with the Volvo Concept Coupé , the face of the Volvo Concept XC Coupé is characterized by a new hood shape and a "floating" grille, flanked by headlights with Daytime Running Lights (DRL), which are newly formed into a T shape. the taillights are also part of Volvo Cars' new design direction. Compared to the Concept Coupé model, the XC Coupé has larger, 21″ wheels , more pronounced wheel arches and a higher roofline, giving a significantly more robust impression that speaks to its all-round character.

Another strong visual element is, for example, the longer distance between the dashboard and the front axle. The performance car's stance is underlined by details such as the new hood and waist line creating an elegant arc running along the entire length of the vehicle.

In this concept, the connection with modern, technologically advanced sports equipment is intensively manifested. One source of inspiration for the design team was the Swedish company POC , which focuses on developing technologically advanced protective equipment for gravity sports athletes.

The purpose of the brand's three concept cars is to demonstrate three essential areas in which the new SPA modular architecture excels: self-assured stance, proportions and distinctive design features.

"The Concept XC Coupé is proof of how smart design has allowed us to strengthen our world-leading position in the field of safety without having to compromise on design, dimensions or weight. Thanks to the extensive use of high-strength boron-alloyed steel and a structure with new, well-thought-out deformation zones, we are able to produce much more compact and safer vehicles on the SPA platform," explains Thomas Ingenlath, Vice President of Design at Volvo.
