Volkswagen will only offer turbocharged engines in the future

Classic naturally aspirated gasoline engines have apparently run out of steam. Within 3-4 years, these units will end up in Volkswagen's offer , and Ford is also planning the same step. Both brands, like many others, rely on a turbocharger or supercharger.

The last pieces of the "classic" naturally aspirated engine school within Volkswagen are the two six-cylinder and the five- cylinder 2.5 . However, Mark Trahan , the brand's executive vice president of quality, told The Detroit News that those too will soon be retired: "We only have three naturally aspirated gasoline engines, and as we move to the next generation of our vehicles, those units will be replaced. It will happen in three, four years at the most."

The same step is also being prepared by Ford , whose Vice President for Engines Joe Bakaj , however, reckons that his brand will retain atmospheric units at least in the case of hybrid models , when the gasoline engine is coupled with an electric one.
