Volkswagen has unveiled a new four-door coupe

Half a year after the New Midsize Coupé concept, Volkswagen presented its serial version at the China Chengdu Motor Show. It lost some of the attractiveness of the original model and was given the rather strange name Lamando .

While the original concept rode on 20-inch wheels, had LEDs in the front bumper and a cool Dragon Red paint job, the production version got conventional fog lights instead of LEDs and only a dull bronze-brown metallic instead of fiery bodywork. Fortunately, the rest of the car remained the same (except for the details) and we are thus looking at quite possibly the most attractive lower middle class Volkswagen.

Under the jacket, we find the MQB modular platform , which is a welcome novelty for the Chinese market. Although we do not yet know the exact dimensions, they will not be too different from the concept, which has a length of 4597 mm , a height of 1422 mm and a width of 1838 mm. Under the hood we find two TSI engines – a 14-liter with a seven-speed DSG and a two-liter with a six-speed DSG.

Lamando, whose Chinese name is Ling Du, will arrive on the market in November and the base price will be around 180,000 yuan (approx. 616,000 crowns). If you are looking forward to a four-door coupe, I will have to disappoint you – it is not expected to be imported into Europe .
