In addition to the Transporter, Caravelle and Multivan, the California estate has been an integral part of the Volkswagen T series for several years. Even the current sixth generation of the "big German", which comes in a total of three specifications, cannot do without it.
The basic model named Beach can accommodate a total of seven passengers and together with the manually folding roof (area 1.2 x 2 meters) offers up to five beds. In addition, the windows are fitted with blinds, and there is a folding table and chairs in the trunk. Although the higher Coast model can carry only five passengers, it has a stainless steel sink, a 42-liter refrigerator and a pair of gas stoves. All furniture is made of wood and aluminum. The highest California Ocean received electro-hydraulic control of the roof with integrated LED lighting, double windows, independent heating and Climatronic air conditioning.
From the other models of the T series, the California takes over, for example, the multi-collision brake , adaptive cruise control or the latest generation of additional App Connect infotainment. The engine compartment is occupied by petrol units with a power of 150 and 204 hp, respectively a diesel TDI with a power range of 84 – 204 hp. In addition, selected versions will receive a DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission and 4Motion all-wheel drive . The base price in Germany was set at 41,429.85 euros (approx. 1,130,000 crowns), the Volkswagen California should arrive on the Czech market during the fall.
