Volkswagen presented the production version of the Passat Performance Concept

Most of you must have noticed that the American Passat is practically completely different from the European one. That the Passat Performance sports concept was shown in Detroit last year certainly also. And it is this Passat Performance that is now headed for serial production.

At the very beginning, however, I have to disappoint all the fans of the Wolfsburg brand – while the Performance Concept had under the hood a turbocharged 1.8 TSI of the EA888 series with an output of 253 hp with a six-speed automatic transmission. However, only the automatic with paddle shifters under the steering wheel remained in serial form, complemented by a five-speed manual. Under the hood is still the 1.8 TSI of the EA888 series, but with a power of 171 hp and a torque of 249 Nm.

The most specific in terms of design are the nineteen-inch Luxor wheels , complete with a discreet rear spoiler and fog lights. There are three colors to choose from – Urano grey, Candy white and Tungsten silver – with the latter two complemented by a black roof and black mirror caps.

The interior is equipped with new seats , aluminum pedals, stainless steel door panels and carbon decor. Sitting between the SE and SEL Premium grades, the Sport trim includes a Premium VIII touchscreen with radio, automatic headlights, a rear parking camera, heated seats, and a leather multifunction steering wheel. The basic price was set by Volkswagen at 27,295 dollars (approx. 552,000 CZK).
