Volkswagen Golf VII – Official presentation in Berlin!

The Volkswagen Golf was introduced to the world for the first time in 1974 and since then over 29 million have been produced in six generations. Currently, we were impatiently waiting for the last, seventh generation, which was officially presented in Berlin these days .

The design of the Golf model has changed only slightly, in an evolutionary way, in its seventh generation. However, everything else is completely new. The rapid weight reduction compared to the previous generation is due to the new MQB platform and the use of up to 80% high-strength steel. Thanks to it, the individual sheets can be made thinner, which, for example, saved 23 kilograms on the bodywork. And that's just the beginning! The sum of all weight reductions means that the new Golf will be at least 100 kilograms lighter than its predecessor in comparable equipment.

The new generation of golf has really grown up. The length of 4255 millimeters adds 56 millimeters to the good, the wheelbase has even increased by 59 millimeters. Other dimensions did not go unnoticed either. The width increased by 13 millimeters, on the other hand, the car lost 28 millimeters of its height. First impression: The GTI is going to look damn good! With the new platform , the space in the cabin has also increased significantly. It sits more in the back and the boot now holds 380 liters (+30 litres).

Like the current version, the new Golf will be available in three trim levels. The basis is the Trendline line , which will offer air conditioning, decorative elements of the dashboard with a metallic appearance, 15" wheels, electric front windows and mirrors, central locking and a folding back of the rear seats. We will certainly also see at least 4 airbags (let's count on six), preparation for the radio and a simple on-board computer. Price? 16,975 euros .

The second level of equipment, called Comforline , is already much more interesting in terms of basic elements. Let's name, for example, a touch multimedia system, a small leather package (steering wheel cover, shift lever head and handbrake), parking sensors, driver fatigue detection system or 16" alloy wheels.

The high-end equipment traditionally consists of the Highline line, which boasts xenon headlights, chrome interior details, 17" alloy wheels or sports seats, upholstered in a combination of Alcantara and fabric. All the mentioned elements of the middle and top equipment are of course extra, with the basis of the Trendline equipment.

All lines of the Volkswagen Golf VII . generations will be equipped with an information system with a diagonal screen of 5; 5.8 or 8 inches. The basic version will have to make do with only a black and white display and the most necessary information, higher versions have touch control. Full connectivity with MP3, Bluetooth, iPod and AUX interface will also please you. The higher equipment includes an electronic handbrake, a navigation system and a telephone UMTS module.

With the seventh generation of the golf comes a whole range of useful electronics, which until now were the privilege of only higher models. For example, adaptive cruise control, XDS electronic differential (origin in Polo GTI and Fabia RS ), driver fatigue detection system or parking assistant with monitoring of the events around the car.

In case of installation of adaptive suspension, there will be five settings of the characteristics of the car – ECO , Normal , Individual , Sport and Comfort . Each of them is tuned for maximum driving pleasure and the lowest possible fuel consumption.

According to current reports, the range of power units will include two gasoline and the same number of diesel units. The basis is a four-cylinder 1.2 TSI with an output of 63 kW, for which the manufacturer promises a combined consumption of 4.9 liters of fuel. The more powerful gasoline variant is represented by the TSI with a volume of 1.4 liters, a power of 103 kW, which with its fuel consumption equals the weaker 1200.

For the diesel base, let's consider a sixteen-cylinder with direct fuel injection, which has a power of 77 kW, a combined consumption of 3.8 l/100 km and the unrivaled production of CO 2 emissions per kilometer traveled (99 grams). If that is not enough, you can reach for a two-liter with a power of 110 kW, which does not swallow more than 4.1 liters of diesel in the combined cycle.

The world premiere of the seventh generation Volkswagen Golf is scheduled for the Paris Motor Show , which will take place at the turn of September and October. The car should go on sale at the end of this year, for the already mentioned base price of 16,975 euros.
