Volkswagen heads to Geneva with upgraded Polo derivatives

In addition to the modernization of the classic Polo , we will also see modified versions of almost all derivatives at the stand of the German automaker in Geneva . We will thus see a fake CrossPolo SUV , an ecologically sporty Polo BlueGT and a downright economical BlueMotion version.

CrossPolo benefits from the contrast of the distinctive body paint and black protective plastics . Of course, there must be a higher ground clearance, silver body accessories and large, in this case, seventeen-inch wheels. In the interior, the upholstery , the steering wheel, the handbrake lever and the shifter knob are all new. Under the hood, we will find a pair of TDI diesels , as yet unspecified, as well as a TSI gasoline engine . All meet the Euro 6 emission standard.

The Polo BlueGT plays on a sportier note with a turbocharged 1.4 TSI four-cylinder gasoline engine with an output of 150 hp and a torque of 250 Nm, which also has a half cylinder deactivation system. In combination with a six-speed manual , the hatchback claims an average of 4.7 l/100 km, and those who do not like manual transmission can have a seven-speed DSG automatic . Visually, the BlueGT benefits from seventeen-inch wheels, a chassis lowered by 15 mm , a discreet rear spoiler and more prominent bumpers, respectively door sills.

The most economical version of the Polo will be the BlueMotion , which can have under the hood a three-cylinder TSI petrol engine with an output of 90 hp and a consumption of 4.1 l/100 km or a three-cylinder diesel 1.4 TDI with an output of 75 hp, which claims an average of 3.1 l/100 km and has a stated range of 1400 km. Design changes compared to the classic Polo include tires with low rolling resistance, an aerodynamic radiator grille or differently made bumpers.

For those interested in a more aggressive look, but an economical diesel, Volkswagen has the option to pay extra for the R-Line visual package , which offers sixteen- or seventeen-inch wheels, a modified mask, a rear spoiler and slightly modified bumpers. The interior has new seat upholstery, a sports steering wheel, special door sills and new decors. At the same time, Volkswagen confirmed that it will launch a plug-in hybrid version and a CNG-powered version next year.
