Volkswagen has modernized the little Fox

At one time, the small Volkswagen Fox was sold, with limited success, also on the Czech and European markets . However, after the arrival of the stylish Up!, few people will remember this rather expensive contribution of the German giant. The opposite situation is experienced by the same car in Brazil . It's doing extremely well there, and Fox has recently undergone a facelift.

In terms of appearance, the inspiration from the seven-cylinder Golf , or the latest Polo facelift, is absolutely obvious. This means a front fascia that is visually connected to the new headlights , a modified front bumper and a new molding on the side of the body. At the rear, the vertical lights have been replaced by larger ones in a horizontal position, which goes hand in hand with a new fifth door lid (the Fox is a five-door in Brazil).

The interior, like the exterior, has become closer to the current latest models of the brand . Anyone who has ever sat in one of the new Volkswagens in the recent past will certainly recognize the steering wheel, as well as the center panel, where in higher trim levels there is a multimedia system with a 5.5-inch touch screen. The quality of the workmanship and materials has been improved, in the equipment we can find, for example, parking sensors or a height-adjustable driver's seat.

Depending on the equipment, we can find four engines under the hood. The Fox Trendline and Comfortline are powered by a liter three-cylinder with an output of 72 hp when running on gasoline, respectively 76 hp when running on ethanol, or a four-cylinder sixteen engine with an output of 101 hp when running on gasoline, respectively 104 hp when running on ethanol. Fox BlueMotion got under the hood a liter three-cylinder tuned to 75 hp when running on gasoline, or 82 hp when running on ethanol. The top-of-the-line Fox Highline is the only one equipped with a new 120-horsepower four-cylinder 16-cylinder engine, which is also the only one to be paired with a six-speed manual as standard. The other engines have a five-speed manual as standard, the Fox Comfortline 1.6 as well as the Fox Highline 1.6 are available with an additional charge automatic.

As already mentioned, the equipment is divided into four grades – Trendline, Comfortline, Highline and BlueMotion. The basic Fox Trendline is equipped with power steering, electric front windows, preparation for a six-speaker radio, central locking and a height-adjustable steering wheel for a price starting at 35,900 reais (approx. 332,000 crowns). Fox Comfortline offers an on-board computer, a radio with CD/MP3 and Bluetooth connectivity, electric mirrors, fog lights and electric rear window controls, for which the German manufacturer will charge at least 38,190 reais (approx. 353,000 crowns). The top version of the Highline is equipped with air conditioning, a multifunction steering wheel, a sliding rear bench, alloy wheels and is the only one that can be equipped with a multimedia system, stability control, an assistant for starting up a hill or an electronic differential lock, and its price starts at 48,490 reais (approx. 448,000 crowns ). The ecological version of the BlueMotion , starting at 37,690 reais (approx. 348,000 crowns), is based on the basic equipment, compared to which it also has tires with lower rolling resistance, a correct gear shift indicator or an aerodynamic radiator grille and wheel covers.
