Volkswagen will end production of the legendary Kombi model

The Volkswagen Kombi is considered a living legend in the automotive world. But everything has an end, so thanks to safety and emission limits , we won't see the Kombi on the list of new Volkswagens next year.

This will end the 56-year period in which the Kombi model was sold in Brazil . The car first hit the market in 1957, then as the Type 2 T1. In 1975, production of the modernized Type 2 T2 began in Brazil, which, except for minor improvements due to time and name changes, will remain in production until the end of that year.

As a dignified farewell, Volkswagen prepared a special Last Edition model . The latter is characterized by a considerable preoccupation with retro, which is reflected in the two-tone painting of the body (blue and white) and the use of special wheels. The special "56" logos on the body refer to the time the model was sold in Brazil.

The interior also rides the retro wave when it offers seat upholstery in the same blue and white combination. There are also stylish curtains on the windows, and the only modern element remains the radio with CD and MP3.

Under the hood is a 1.4 Flex gasoline four-cylinder engine that can burn gasoline or ethanol and is connected to a four-speed manual transmission. If you fill up with gasoline, the maximum engine power is 78 hp. If ethanol, the power will increase to 80 hp.

In total, the German automaker will produce only 600 units of the Last Edition version . One retro car will cost 85,000 reais (approx. 721,000 CZK).
