The modernized Polo GTI got a bigger engine

The current trend in the automotive industry is to produce engines with the smallest possible volume and, conversely, the greatest possible performance. Ideally, pair such an engine with a dual-clutch automatic and you are done. The last Polo GTI once followed this path, but as part of the current modernization, it was released again.

Under the hood, we no longer find a turbocharged 180 hp TSI engine with a torque of 250 Nm, but a turbocharged 192 hp TSI engine with a torque of 320 Nm! With it, the Polo GTI accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 236 km/h. And if relatively good news is not enough, then know that the six-speed manual transmission is returning to the Polo GTI! The seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic , previously the only option, is now only an extra charge.

In terms of appearance, the Polo moved closer to the larger Golf GTI , receiving a honeycomb grille with a red stripe, new front and rear bumpers, a rear spoiler and twin tailpipes . For an additional fee, it will be possible to reach for LED diodes in the front reflectors. The interior features a sporty flattened steering wheel, seats with better lateral guidance and typical checkered upholstery , red contrasting stitching and glossy black decor.
