Modernized version of the Opel Meriva

The second generation Opel Meriva received a facelift after four years on the market. The small MPV now fits better into the Opel design family and at the same time gets more environmentally friendly engines.

In terms of appearance, the designers obviously copied from the recently modernized Insignia . Not only the lights with LED diodes for daytime running, but also the radiator grille and the front bumper with new framing of the fog lights look similar. The rear lights were also modified, and again it was not possible without the use of LEDs.

Changes have also taken place in the interior , where Opel highlights the new generation IntelliLink multimedia system with a seven-inch color screen. If you pair the system with a phone using Bluetooth , you can have saved contacts, music library or read SMS messages loaded. In addition to these functions, IntelliLink can also offer navigation and voice control.

However, the biggest novelty of the entire modernization is the use of a 1.6 CDTI four-cylinder diesel engine , which is known for example from the larger Zafira , with an output of 136 hp and a torque of 320 Nm. An all-aluminum engine with Common-Rail direct injection replaces the previous 1.7 CDTI with 130 hp. Compared to it, it offers not only higher performance, but also better driving economy, when it consumes only 4.4 l/100 km, emits 116 g of CO2/km into the air and thus meets the Euro 6 emission standard . The remaining two diesel units (1.7 CDTI – 110 hp and 1.3 CDTI) should replace other 1600 units over the next year.

The 1.4 (100 hp) and 1.4 Turbo (120 and 140 hp) petrol units will also meet the stricter Euro 6 emissions standard from the new model year. At the same time, turbocharged variants will receive a new six-speed automatic with lower friction. Euro 6 will also be met by the 1.4 Turbo (120 hp), which burns both gasoline and LPG.
