UAZ is ending production of the Hunter model

You would have to look for the basis of the UAZ Hunter in the 469 model from the early seventies. It is almost unbelievable that a military car has survived to this day with only minor changes. However, similar to the case of the Land Rover Defender , the Russian nezma's time is fast coming to an end. They will kill him, of course, by technical and safety regulations.

The special Hunter Pobednaja serija , translated as the victorious series, will attempt to end the highly successful operation and also to commemorate the seventieth anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Army in the Great Patriotic War with dignity. From the standard model, you can recognize it mainly by the graphics on the sides of the body, referring to the famous film The Singing Squadron about Soviet airmen during the Second World War. The khaki body paint , black steel wheels with 225/75 R16 Contyre Expedition tires and special equipment , including a field backpack, a military celt, a military jacket, an axe, a hatchet or cutlery, will also remind you of the army. The functional element is an additional steel plate protecting the chassis elements, led by the steering rod. Only a strictly limited number of units with petrol and diesel engines will be available from May, the price has currently dropped from 549,990 rubles (approx. 243,000 crowns) to 409,990 rubles (approx. 181,000 crowns).

The Hunter Trophy version looks a little more civil with Rashmi gray-brown metallic and 16-inch alloy wheels with Contyre Expedition 225/75 R16 tires. Similar to the Pobednaja serija, the Trophy also has additional protection for mechanical parts , which include the gearbox, reduction gear and steering rod. As in the first case, the price has dropped from 539,990 rubles (approx. 237,000 crowns) to 399,990 rubles (approx. 177,000 crowns), the first cars will be delivered by the car manufacturer from Ulyanovsk in April.

And what is actually behind the end of Hunter as such? With a bit of exaggeration, one could say that the customs union. Since 2016, it has banned the production of any car without airbags and ESP , which are unfamiliar words for an old off-roader. Although UAZ's original plans indicated the possibility of having the Hunter registered as an agricultural tractor and thereby avoiding safety requirements, declining sales eventually convinced the car to end production.
