Toyota has been planning a small sports car, positioned below the GT86 model for a long time. However, few expected that it could be a model using the design elements of the existing BMW 1 series .
The car, codenamed 69DZ , will receive a design similar to the existing 1 Series, as Toyota wants to succeed in the European market in particular, where "the right design" is a very important element. Similar to the GT86, weight will play a primary role in the new model, which will be well under one tonne.
