Toyota Hilux again at the Arctic Circle!

The Toyota Hilux is no newcomer to Antarctica and has proven several times in history that it is one of the best off-road vehicles in the world. It is precisely because of this that she was chosen by the representatives of one of the coldest and longest ski races in the world, organized by the Extreme World Races organization .

Ten Hilux models participated in the event, two of which were equipped with a third axle. Each of the Toyotas covered nearly 6,000 kilometers in four months (November 2011 – February 2012) as support vehicles carrying fuel, weather stations and other essentials for a transcontinental move.
It is clear that these were not fully stock Toyota Hiluxes . Before the start, the cars traveled to Iceland , where the well-known company Arctic Trucs took care of their modifications. She equipped them with huge wheels that better withstand deep snow, reinforced axles, cranes for lifting heavy equipment and tanks for 280 liters of special fuel for fighters. This is because it is able to withstand freezing temperatures down to -50 °C.
The only place where no modifications were made was under the hood. Transarctic Toyota Hiluxes were equipped with standard 3.0 D-4D six-cylinder diesel engines and even stock transmissions. During the long race, these two essential components did not face any technical problems.
